In case some Iraqis still didn’t hate the U.S. enough

American soldiers at a checkpoint in Falluja decided to panic and open fire on some Iraqi policemen, killing eight of them. In fact, they apparently kept firing for 45 minutes, despite the surviving policemen yelling that they were, in fact, police. The U.S. later issued an apology which didn’t even actually admit that we killed the eight men.

This will, of course, do nothing but inflame tensions in the area, and it’s hardly going to encourage any more Iraqis in Falluja to join up with the U.S.-trained police forces. Why bother, if it isn’t going to even prevent the occupiers from shooting at you?
