Underestimating the Imams
As the protests continue in Iraq, it’s becoming more and more obvious that the Bush administration apparently managed to never give much thought to what the Shia majority was going to want once Saddam was gone. It’s all well and good to blame some of the problems on agitation from Iran, as there is almost certainly some of that going on, but the fact remains that the Bush gang seriously underestimated both how quickly the Shia would move, and how unwelcome the Americans were going to be in Iraq once Saddam was gone. Maybe it’s finally time for a realistic assessment of the situation?
