I’m not sure if this applies to anyone else, but I know that part of my reservations for “small” cons like this is that you can easily end up finding yourself with a “pig in a poke” situation.

That is to say, you’ve paid your registration, booked your hotel (hopefully) and then you find out when the game list comes out (usually well after the above have happened) that there are few games that you actually want to participate in!

I think that the law of averages protects you somewhat in larger cons or ones that have a broader theme to them. But in an Amber-centric (if not Amber-specific) con this can be an issue…

I agree completely, and my most significant disappointment while reading SotC was that Brisco was left off their bibliography. It’s too good (in a pulpish, not always successful TV sort of way) to be overlooked.

Heh. You’ve obviously mistaken me for someone who’s currently in a gaming group that plays something other than D&D 3.5. I haven’t actually gotten a chance to play SOTC yet.
